Drill No. 11 successfully completed

Being a part of a huge, highly complicated, full of challenges project, constructing a new 660 MW Steam Electric Station for PPC in Ptolemais, continuous monitoring of the efficiency of prevention plans and methodologies is crucial.

Aiming in optimum MS implementation and Rescue team members continuous training and preparedness, a program of drills, based on Emergency Plan requirements in conjunction to on going construction activities risk analysis, is executed.

Starting on December 2018 with the engagement of Active Point qualified (IRATA lvl3) personnel, a rescue team, engaging qualified personnel by major subcontractors is been formed. A temporary training yard for work at heights training, is been built to serve rescue team continuous training plan. Assessing work at heights and confined spaces as the higher rated hazards, special equipment and accessories to fit the purpose, has been procured.

Following construction requirements, highly detailed drills such as rescue of the operator of a tower crane from his cabin at a height of 200m and rescue via stretcher transportation with the aid of rope bridges systems has been designed and executed successfully.

Suspended scaffolds that are creating peculiar confined spaces are erected in several cases. A simple methodology demanding specific rescue equipment and qualified personnel was the one tested on drill no 11 that was executed on the last day of July 2019.
